Dear Russell,
I've just googled Barons Court Hotel.
It looks far superior to The George at Lichfield. It is about 15 to 20 minutes from Lichfield by road.
I went with The George because at least a couple of people had booked there independently and were travelling by train. Also, another couple had booked there and received a superb overnight rate which included the dinner, and the dinner for those not staying overnight is a reasonable cost too.
We are not a huge party of people staying overnight in the area. Around 8 people are known to be staying at The George and another 4 or 5 people are staying in the local area and wish to join them for dinner. To accommodate the one veteran (I hope he makes it as he has a long train journey with lots of connections) I have timed the dinner for 6.30 for 7 p.m. I doubt whether it will be in the league of an HMS Intrepid reunion as we're a different mix of people, many of whom won't be known to one another until Saturday!
Remainder of those planning to attend will be arriving anywhere between 10.00 and midday on Sunday.
I think I forgot to update you on the result of the questionnaire that was attached to the information sheet that I sent round.
We are keeping things simple in that no-one wanted standards or a parade.
I'm looking forward to meeting you all.
As I stated in my information sheet, there'll be a man in charge on the day!
Best wishes
Pauline
