Welcome to the "Intrepid" web-site. Another month has passed since
my last "ditt". There has been visits by about 40 "hits", so the ship "Intrepid"
is still remembered (not to be confused with USS Intrepid which has been
preserved & is open to the public !!!) .

Hi to All "Site Visitors",
                       It's been a few weeks since I last "Posted" & a lot
has happened since then. We in the UK are on" lock-down". It's
worse for us over 70's. Not encouraged to go out.Worse for those
with-out a garden.All we can do is look forward to things returning
to normal, (whatever that is !!!). Please keep visiting but most of
all "STAY SAFE".

been a while since I visited.

Lockdown here is much tighter than the UK, although they say they are easing the lockdown it is only to allow some of the workers to go back to work as long as they can still keep the social distance.

Yet another month has passed & the whole world is still in
the same state as the previous month,when is it going to get better ?
All we can do is what we're told to do & wait it out. Here in the UK
now that May is here it should start to warm-up & things won't seem
too bad. Do they " have it in" for us over 70's !!!! (Just a thought).

we were allowed out for a walk this morning (10:00 - 12:00) as long as we didn't stray more than 1km from the house.  The legs new that I had'nt done any real exercise for a while, but it was a real treat.

Another month has passed & most restrictions are still in place.
The "site " is still having "hits " on it,so that can't be a bad thing.It makes
you think that the "Intrepid" is still thought about.The old ships like her & others
(Eagle,Ark Royal ,Albion,Bukwark,Tiger) still have memories for a lot of us oldies,
even the smaller ships as well.
Well folks enough about my trip down memory lane, stay safe & take care
of yourselves.

Hey Mitch, my first ship was the Blake (sister ship to Tiger). horrible thing! Then went onto the Hecate which was a survey ship. Like chalk an cheese with the difference in accommodation standards!

Nice to hear from you again,hope's well your end.My first ship was the Tiger
in 1963.She had just come back from the Far East & a lot of the crew had been drafted.
What an experience !!! When she fired the 6" & the 3" guns at the same time the whole ship shuddered.

they were indeed. I joined Blake in 1976. Only did about a year and she paid off not too long after. 3 inch was inoperable by then. No spares to get it working

Nice to hear some are still around, especially Del Carvell - hope you are still enjoying life in Spain.  Unfortunately, don't hear from anyone nowadays.  Saw Dels photo album - one contains a photo of Bob Ikin, a 'townie' of mine.  His Uncle was a 'John Ikin' a well known English cricketer.  Walking around my local parish (Audley - Stoke-on-Trent) during lockdown I saw that a Blue Plaque had recently been put on the house where he lived.  Keep in touch with Ian Stirton-Smith whose career path crossed mine many times.

Good afternoon Mr Lovatt
really good to hear that you are well and still visiting this site.

I thought of you when they announced the death of Gordon Banks and it bought back a few memories of our time onboard.  If you see Bob, give him my regards.

Yes still enjoying life in Spain and although we have very high cases of the virus in general, we are lucky in the village as we are free from the bug and are taking great care to try to stay that way. Mind you the police are very hot and will not hesitate to fine you.

Heyup Mitch, Del (and any others who still drift onto the site now and again but don't bother to leave a message!)

Enjoy the Christmas period and hope the UK COVID relaxes asap for you. Not so restricted in Abu Dhabi for now but we do have a COVID border between Dubai and AD! with all the isolation rules for travel (both ends) I haven't been able to get back to the UK since before COVID started.
